Our Guide To Choosing The Right Vanity For Your Bathroom

Vanities add a lot of character to your bathroom and a lot of practical features such as additional storage space, but since vanities come in a lot of shapes and sizes, it can be difficult to choose one that’s right for you. When it comes to choosing the right vanity for your bathroom, ask yourself these three questions:

If your bathroom is beginning to show signs of wear and tear, a new vanity can breathe new light into the space and give the impression of a fresh bathroom makeover. As this is one of the most used fixtures, an upgrade can make a significant impact on the bathroom as a whole. However, it’s important to choose the right one that looks good and is functional as well. We’ve put together a guide to choosing the right vanity for your bathroom to make the process smoother.

How do you choose the right vanity for your bathroom?

How much space do you have?

If you’re looking for the right vanity for your bathroom, there is a lot to consider. Especially if you have a small bathroom. In that case, you want a vanity that does two things: make the room seem larger, and provide enough space for you to move around.

In a small bathroom, you’ll probably want to have a low-profile vanity to give that illusion of space. Opt for a floating or wall-mounted vanity, they should do the trick. Also, having mirrors with extra storage behind can boost your storage space without making the room feel cramped.

For larger bathrooms, you’ll have more options to choose from. You can, for example, install double-basin vanities or one with more spacious cabinets.

What’s your style?

A vanity is not only a practical addition to a bathroom, but it can often be a statement piece that ties your bathroom design together. Of course, you also want a vanity that matches the overall look not only of your bathroom but also ties into your entire home. There are plenty of choices when it comes to sleek and modern vanities, however you may also want to shop for vintage ones if that’s the look you’re after.

Colour may be another consideration you have to make when it comes to style. For one, you can opt for something that blends with the general colour scheme of the room, or you may also want something that adds contrast and interest to it.

How do you use your bathroom?

One of the most important questions we ask when renovating a bathroom, it’s also important to take this into consideration when selecting a vanity. If two or more use it or if it’s an ensuite, for example, then double-basin vanities would be your ideal option. This would give plenty of room for two people to use at the same time, so there’s no fights when it comes to brushing teeth.

You may also want to look into the space of the cabinets. If you want a lot of storage space and still have plenty of room to move around, you can go as deep as 600mm. This can translate to a lot of storage space.

The height of the vanity is also important if you expect children to use it. Find one that has just the right height so that kids can use without being too low that it would be impractical for them to use later on.

Custom or pre-built vanity for your bathroom

Pre-made Vanities typically come in standard sizes which may mean the room needs to be designed around the vanity. However, if you want something that really suits your needs and style, or you want to fill a larger space you may have to look at a custom made vanity.

At WA Assett Bathroom Renovators, we’re ready to help you find and install the vanity that matches your specific needs in terms of style and function. Send us an enquiry to book your complimentary in-home consultation today.
